Our client is a very well known American fast food restaurant chain that operates restaurants across the southern United States. They have respectfully asked to remain anonymous.

THE CHALLENGE:

Restaurants that are not using big data analytics are missing out on a lucrative opportunity to increase their ROI and gain customer satisfaction. Sage Solutions Consulting was therefore engaged to address issues related to supply chain predictability.  The client was interested leveraging big data technology and analytics to optimize their services and gain a competitive advantage. They also wanted an enhanced toolset to better analyze and predict the impacts of weather and weather forecasts (amongst other things) on their supply chain and point-of-sale transactions.

THE SOLUTION:

Sage Solutions multi-phased solution both refined and streamlined the client’s analytics environment and capabilities through a big data and advanced analytics program while extending additional toolsets. Initial phases focused on the integration of a Big Data technologies with their MPP Platform, which included the installation and configuration of IBM’s Big Insights Hadoop platform. Later phases focused on developing use cases and specifically understanding the impact of weather and weather forecasts on their supply chain and point of sale transactions.

THE RESULTS:

The client now employs a flexible and scalable predictive analytics solution for discovering, investigating and testing various big data scenarios that ultimately allowed for numerous cost efficiencies. Big Data Analysis results, on patterns and trends, are now also provided to restaurants to help them cater to a variety of demands and help them capitalize on growth. This new functionality specifically allows them to analyze, predict and constantly optimize which has had a direct positive impact on their bottom line.
