Our customer is a non-profit, Texas-based health care institution providing patient treatment.  With specialized staff and equipment, their mission is to create healthier futures by leading in patient care, education and research. With over 1000 employees, information technology is critical and utilized extensively to support the delivery of services.

THE CHALLENGE:
The Physicians faced challenges in understanding survival analytics for transplant surgery including influencers and predicting mortality rates in patients undergoing transplant surgery.  In order to optimize operations and ensure best practices, Analysts spend weeks building predictive models with multiple variables. 

The Hospital ultimately needed an integrated data mining methodology to build accurate predictive models for survivability, and use these models to investigate the fundamental relationship between predictor variables and survivability in order to identify the factors that have the most significant impact on survivability.

THE SOLUTION:

Sage Solutions Consulting partnered with the customer to build an advanced analytic solution to model the key variables that are impacting mortality rates in transplant surgery in an effort to improve the overall results and patient care.  The model utilizes regression and correlation analysis with advanced visualization techniques to help doctors and researchers identify the potential risks. Sage Solutions Consulting additionally developed discrete event simulation models to validate (and to conduct sensitivity analysis on) the patterns identified by the aforementioned data mining methodologies.

THE RESULTS:

Sage Solutions Consulting provided a solution that solved this challenge while also enabling the customer to explore and expand data intelligence to other groups like research, education and crisis response. By integrating all analytics and information, accuracy and care delivery are significantly enhanced (as well as patient confidence.
